Have you been invaded by support6mm@dhl.com? Some childish text plus infantile spelling ending with “DHL International GmbH”. This informed me that a package is on its way to my house and that I can track it using the attachment. The trouble was that I really was expecting something from Germany so I tried to open it, without success. I consulted my son who told me that opening it might have resulted in a (perfectly legal!) charge of GBP 900! BT would just add it to my next bill, without question. When I “Googled” it, I found that it was well known to the trade. Another one arrived today! At least they are diverted into the “Spam” box but so are other legitimate and even important e-mails.

Ash Wednesday, so I’m going round with a black smudge on my forehead but nobody has made any comment!

Resolution(s) for lent – 1) write something every day, 2) read something every day [I was at a meeting of the Newman Association last week. The speaker, a Dominican, said the scriptures were not for “Fundamentalists” but to feel oneself present at the events described. God may then grant personal revelation to understand meaning and significance. As it’s possible to get so many ideas from a single passage, that sounds like a good idea.], 3) Do something physical, even if it’s just pulling up weeds, with a view to losing some weight so cutting down on food and drink would also be useful.

Determined to get something posted. I’ll just add another couple of resolutions: 4) Get up earlier – as if I were going out to work and 5) get up and make some tea, during the night – when I can’t sleep due to internal gas pressure (topside and/or bottom)!

 That’s it for now.
